My First Royalty Check Has Arrived — How Cool Is That?

Hey! Hey! My very first royalty check has arrived. It’s definitely not big bucks (you guys are going to have to go online or to your local bookstore and order up more copies if the big bucks are going to happen). But it’s a paycheck — the first I’ve earned as a writer since I left the journalism business back in the 20th century.

If you’re wondering where my glasses went, btw, they’re stuck away in a drawer. Details to follow soon when The Cataract Chronicles begin.

Meanwhile, I’m serious about you getting out there and buying copies of “Wrestling with God.” Go to Amazon or BarnesandNoble.com or Indiebound and make those numbers soar. And while you’re at it, write a review. They make a big difference. Thanks, guys!

If you’re tired of hearing about my book — or God, for that matter — and really you’d rather read about my love life, there’s “Tulips and Sex — Writing as If Everyone I Know Were Dead.” For those who just want to look at pictures, there’s “Point and Shoot Heaven — Photographing a Garden in Minnesota Just Before Dusk.”

Wondering how I take those writing room selfies? My point-and-shoot has a timer, and this bendable Joby table tripod works nicely. Photo by Barbara Newhall

  1. That’s terrific, Barbara – ANY kind of royalty check for a writer is a victory. Loved your book so much and not surprised that it’s finding more fans.

Don’t spend it all in one place!

  2. You were on Marin IJ’s top ten best sellers a few months ago. I think your royalty check is bigger than you say. You’re being modest! Congrats!!
