Photo by Barbara Newhall<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>By Barbara Falconer Newhall<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It&apos;s been kinda lonesome here lately at localhost\/baarbaar\/.\u00a0The Contact button\u00a0has been right\u00a0there at the top of my Home Page ready to accept messages from one and all.\u00a0But nobody&apos;s been clicking.<\/p>\n<p>Or so I thought.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Turns out that message after message has been turned away by my server because of a\u00a0spam-riddled inbox. High school\u00a0friends who&#8217;ve googled me and discovered that I had a\u00a0website. Loyal readers with something insightful to say. And even a colleague inviting me to talk to her writing class. Dozens of important messages\u00a0have either been rejected or\u00a0lost in a swamp of spam: 45,000 &#8212; count &#8217;em, 45,000 &#8212; spam messages clogged\u00a0my inbox, burying messages and preventing new ones from getting through.<\/p>\n<h5>Spam-Riddled No More<\/h5>\n<p>A phone call to my webmaster and &#8212; my spam-riddled inbox problem is\u00a0solved. A vigilant spam catcher has been installed, and your messages will be reaching me just fine from now on. You&#8217;ll have to\u00a0pass an are-you-human? test to prove that you&#8217;re not a robot; but you&#8217;re used to that by now.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, if you have tried in vain to contact me &#8212; my apologies.
