Have you been wondering what’s become of me? I could say that I’ve been busy working on my next book and that would be true, sorta. (It’s a memoir in essays — like the ones you read on this website. Think of it as “Erma Bombeck and Betty Friedan meet for coffee.”)<\/p>\n

Yes, I’ve been doing serious writing work, but the biggest reason I’ve been AWOL from this site is the constant distraction of the remodel we’re doing at our house. Add a skylight, remove a wall, redo a deck, update some windows, install a new front door.\u00a0You get the idea.<\/p>\n

Remodels are time-consuming, but they’re also disorganizing. You think your day is going to go one way, then the contractor shows up and wants to show you his cool design for a new mantel, which our fireplace has needed since we moved in 42 years ago.<\/p>\n

As a result, I have not taken the time to sit down and write a nice, cogent blog post very often. But — I have been taking photos like mad and posting them on Instagram. So, if you really want to know what’s up at our house these days, go to @BarbaraFalconerNewhall on Instagram.<\/p>\n
