November 3, 2020. Sheltering at Home Week\u00a0 34<\/strong><\/p>\n

I voted. Yea! Not only that, my ballot has been received, according to California’s official ballot tracking site.<\/p>\n

I voted, and I’m pretty sure you did, too — or you will have by the time the day is out. You and I and tens of millions of other Americans.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0TheGuadian.com, as many as 150 million Americans<\/a> might vote this year. That’s an impressive 65% of eligible voters.<\/p>\n

Democracy Lives<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Democracy and the rule of law are alive and well in the U.S. of A. Right?<\/p>\n

I’m counting on it.<\/p>\n

After Donald Trump’s win in the 2016 presidential election, I put a good face on it and wrote a piece called\u00a0 “I Decided to Stop Bad-Mouthing Donald Trump. But Will I?”<\/a><\/p>\n

In an earlier piece about Trump, I fretted that all “he wanted, deep down, was not my vote. What he wanted was my attention<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

And he got it. For four years, that man had my attention.<\/p>\n

Let Us Tend Our Garden<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Let’s hope that after today’s election, I can reclaim the part of my brain that Donald Trump has\u00a0 colonized these four, miserable, sleep-deprived years.<\/p>\n

What will I do with my freed-up time and mental energy? I’ll think about things like infrastructure, jobs and global warming. I’ll write another check to the Alameda County Community Food Bank<\/a>. I’ll plant primroses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
